2023 AIA OKLAHOMA HONOR AWARDS PROGRAM


The AIA Oklahoma Honor Awards Program recognizes individuals and organizations within and outside the profession of architecture who share it’s commitment to the quality of life in Oklahoma. The Program recognizes exceptional members for their distinguished leadership in several categories.


NOMINATION PROCEDURES

  • All AIA Oklahoma chapters and members are invited and encouraged to submit nominations to the Honor Awards Committee. There is no limit to how many years a nominee may be submitted for an award. Recipient may receive a specific award/honor only once. Awards may be presented posthumously.
  • Current AIA Oklahoma members in good standing or local chapters may sponsor a nominee. Nominees must be current members in good standing.
  • All nominations MUST be submitted electronically using a single PowerPoint file with a maximum of 20 slides that support the nomination. The images will be used in the awards production. There is no limit to the number of images that may be contained per slide.
  • Nomination forms and information are available on the AIA Oklahoma website at aiaoklahoma.com
  • Please include exhibits that support the nomination. For example, if nominated for community service, include images of candidate in action, including articles or other printed materials written about the service.
  • Please refer to the specific awards criteria for further submittal requirements.
  • Copies of the winning submittals will be kept in AIA Oklahoma archive

All nominations must be received in the AIA Oklahoma office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023

Selection and Notification

The members of the AIA Oklahoma Honor Awards Committee will choose all Honor Award recipients following careful examination of submissions. All award recipients will receive notification of their selection before their names are formally announced at the 2023 Architecture Awards Celebration on Friday, September 15, 2023.


Award Presentation

The awards will be presented during the AIA Oklahoma Awards Celebration on Friday, September 15, 2023 at First National Center in downtown Oklahoma City.

AIA Oklahoma Award for Outstanding Educational Contributions


Awarded to recognize an individual architectural educator for outstanding educational contributions. Criteria for selection will include evidence of influencing a wide range of students and maintaining relevance through the years by directing students toward the future while drawing on the past.

Nominee must be a member of AIA, a current or former member of the faculty of one of the two accredited Oklahoma schools or colleges of architecture, and a full-time educator for at least five years.


An AIA Oklahoma member or local chapter may sponsor a nomination.


Nomination Submission Requirement:

  • A completed AIA Oklahoma Honor Awards Nomination Form.
  • The entire submission packet must be submitted electronically in a single PowerPoint file not to exceed 20 slides
  • A maximum of three letters of Nomination/Recommendation.
  • Letters should be explicit in their recommendation, summarize the candidate’s contributions and contain specific reasons for support.
  • Additional supporting items shall include:
    • A brief biography
    • A statement/list of candidate’s achievements/awards
    • Miscellaneous materials including clippings, articles, etc.
  • Include at least one (1) digital image of the candidate in a high resolution 300 dpi jpeg file.
AIA Oklahoma Award for Community Service


Awarded each year to recognize an individual AIA Oklahoma member, local chapter or architecture firm for an extended commitment to community service or significant contribution evidenced in a positive impact on urban, environmental or neighborhood issues.

An AIA Oklahoma member or local chapter may sponsor a nomination.


Nomination Submission Requirements:


  • A completed AIA Oklahoma Honor Awards Nomination Form.
  • The entire submission packet must be submitted electronically in a single PowerPoint file not to exceed 20 slides.
  • A maximum of three letters of Nomination/Recommendation.
  • Letters should be explicit in their recommendation, summarize the candidate’s contributions and contain specific reasons for support.
  • Additional supporting items shall include:
    • A brief biography
    • A statement/list of candidate’s achievements/awards
    • Miscellaneous materials including clippings, articles, etc.
  • Include at least one (1) digital image of the candidate in a high resolution 300 dpi jpeg file.
AIA Oklahoma Award for Young Professional Achievement


Awarded to recognize an AIA Oklahoma member for professional achievement in leadership development during the early stage of their architectural career.

Nominees will be members of the AIA who have been licensed to practice architecture less than 10 years by the submission deadline, and are currently registered in the State of Oklahoma. The term young architect has no reference to the age of the nominee.

An AIA Oklahoma member or local chapter may sponsor a nomination.


Nomination Submission Requirements:


  • A completed AIA Oklahoma Honor Awards Nomination Form.
  • The entire submission packet must be submitted electronically in a single PowerPoint file not to exceed 20 slides.
  • A maximum of three letters of Nomination/Recommendation
  • Letters should be explicit in their recommendation, summarize the candidate’s contributions and contain specific reasons for support.
  • Additional supporting items shall include:
    • A brief biography
    • A statement/list of candidate’s achievements/awards

AIA Oklahoma Award for Distinguished Service

This award is presented to individuals, associations, AIA Oklahoma members or members of the Oklahoma community at-large who have given outstanding service to the architectural community as a whole, including service to the profession, public service or education.


An AIA Oklahoma member or local chapter may sponsor a nomination.

Nomination Submission Requirements:


  • A completed AIA Oklahoma Honor Awards Nomination Form.
  • The entire submission packet must be submitted electronically in a single PowerPoint file not to exceed 20 slides.
  • A maximum of three letters of Nomination/Recommendation
  • Letters should be explicit in their recommendation, summarize the candidate’s contributions and contain specific reasons for support.
  • Additional supporting items shall include:
    • A brief biography
    • A statement/list of candidate’s achievements/awards
    • Miscellaneous materials including clippings, articles, etc.

AIA Oklahoma Award for Lifetime Achievement

This award is presented to an AIA Oklahoma member to recognize a lifetime of distinguished leadership and dedication in architecture and community. The Award is AIA Oklahoma’s highest honor.


An AIA Oklahoma member or local chapter may sponsor a nomination.


Nomination Submission Requirements:

  • A maximum of three letters of Nomination/Recommendation
